Even minus stellar starting pitching in some of those games, they've managed wins with a relentless lineup that includes sluggers (Manny Ramirez) and table setters (Dustin Pedroia), and no one gives away at-bats. The patience, then, of the Minnesota Twins' pitchers will be tested tonight versus the Sox at home.

Those are the words of Ahmed Ahmed, an Egyptian-born comedian profiled in the new episode "Stand Up: Muslim-American Comics Come of Age." It focuses on five performers who use their comedy to break down stereotypes and misconceptions about Islam and Muslims. Others featured include Tissa Hami, Dean Obeidallah, Maysoon Zahid and Azhar Usman.

"Mother of the Year" might be a more fitting title for this program, as the typical person would consider his own mom his "favorite," not some stranger. Nevertheless, thousands of people nominated their mothers for this honor in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Mother's Day. The winner will be crowned by hosts Donny and Marie Osmond, take home a diamond pendant and other prizes, and have a rose named for her.

Justine Bateman -- how far she's fallen from "Family Ties" -- stars as a scientist who cures a man's blindness by giving him the eyes of a wolf. This procedure has the unfortunate side effect of making the guy act more canine than human. An American Indian medicine man straight from the bargain bin at central casting tries to help, but ... oh, never mind.

In this new episode, it's Homer's mom, Mona (voice of Glenn Close), who passes away, leaving Homer riddled with guilt for not telling her how he felt about her. There's only one thing he can do for her now: scatter her ashes. And he does, with humorous results, of course. Lance Armstrong also lends his voice to "Mona Leaves-a."

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Ten days? Hey, sister, sit him down with this movie and you can get the job done in a couple of hours. Forty years ago, this would have been a Doris Day-Rock Hudson vehicle, but Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey lack that pair's flair for taking stale material and whipping it into something memorable instead of just, well, stale and whipped. This is the kind of froth that gives froth a bad name.

Both sides pay the price in this new episode, as Hank ditches Dale, Boomhauer and Bill, who have always helped him build a boat for an annual competition, in favor of Bobby. It's all about the family bonding, see? But that falls apart when the garage where they're working is invaded by bats, and a frightened Hank runs out on his son in "It Came From the Garage."

Jim Carrey is missing this time, but the idea is the same -- to lesser effect -- in returning director Tom Shadyac's sequel to "Bruce Almighty." It elevates Steve Carell ("The Office") from supporting player to star, as his newsman character from the first story goes into politics, making him the perfect candidate for the Deity's (Morgan Freeman) latest mission. He wants the novice congressman to build a modern-day ark. Lauren Graham also stars.
